Olive and Purple

Handmade vegan shoes on Etsy. Another item for my shopping list.

I ordered some patterns, bought The Sewing Bible and tomorrow am going to scour the city in search of fabric, thread, zippers and buttons. Any successes will be posted here with some how-to’s. My current knowledge is only what I learned in home ec class in high school.

Some items on my to make list:

• a wristlet to hold my phone, monies, lipstick when I go dancing
• a clutch in the style of the Hobo Effe (only it probably won’t be leather or $120)
• a chiffon maxi skirt (sans pattern)
• cotton dresses (patterns 6968 and 2305)

P.S. Is this Leather Carry-All really worth $45? I highly doubt it, so I will test my theory that I can find the leather, cut and sew it all in under 2 hours for cheap. A lot of their stuff is over priced but three seams and a zipper just seems like they are laughing at us.

1. Be straight with people and they will be straight with you. Jessica met all sorts of people and when they were being rude or she thought they were lying, she called them on it. I worry too much about hurting people’s feelings, but being brutally honest when the situation calls for it is more respectful.
2. Take a moment to get dressed everyday. No matter where she was, Jessica would be dressed appropriately and look put-together. It doesn’t take much to change out of your pajama pants and into jeans to go get some groceries, kind of like the advice about how you can’t overdress for an interview.
3. Take care of your friendships. Jessica was always stopping by to visit a friend or catching up with a neighbor, even if only once a season year. The smallest and most genuine of gestures go a long way.
4. Laugh a lot. Almost every show ended with a freeze frame of Jessica laughing. A device the producers used to leave the viewer feeling good and wanting to come back for more, I’m sure.  Since it worked for viewers for twelve years, it stands to reason that it would work in everyday life as well.

I saw this photo on another blog and had to track it down. I can feel the cold air on my cheeks and hear the snow under my boots. I am totally romanticising winter.

It was so nice to see the rest of the album is beautiful too! Lovely clothes and wandering around outside. Two of the best things.

It is so funny how you get ideas of how people sound when you read their blogs. How do you think I sound?

I’ve been checking out this fashion blog often, Dylana Suarez has great style and great taste. I would wear pretty much anything that she wears in her photos, especially this one pair of shoes. But today I saw that she can sing too! I imagined her voice to be shy and sweet and then I heard her belt out a rich, throaty song instead. Double the love.
