Dirty and happy

I really think there has to be something wrong with someone who doesn’t like dogs (or they have a traumatic past involving a chase or something like that). A furry face and wagging tail is the absolute best thing to wake up to every morning. Being greeted with pure and unrestrained joy when you walk in the door after only being gone for an hour cannot help but make you feel better. Dogs get you out of bed when you are lazy, wipe lick your tears when you are sad, and are steadfast, affectionate, non-judgmental best friends.

I love the people who rock what they love. Be it boys in high heels, girls in stuffed animal hats, wearing a shiny silver unitard to the bar or even just a solid grey wardrobe. It is awesome that they are brave enough and free enough, to embrace what matters to them.

Mango Butter Lipstick and Lip Butter

I am having a love affair with Korres lipstick. It seems pretty genuinely all-natural and I have my fingers crossed that I haven’t been won over by green-washing. So nice feeling and great colours.

I really do. It is the shit and here is why:

  1. I am a lone wolf. I learn and work best on my own, as opposed to group settings. I miss my old co-workers sometimes, but it is easy enough to drop by the office sometimes or say ‘hello’ on Skype.
  2. Pants are optional. Super hot day? No problem, just throw a sarong on and I’m good to go. Rainy, grey day? I can stay in my sweats and be cozy and productive.
  3. My own schedule, and I do mean schedule. I’ve done it for long enough that I know the best way for me to meet my deadlines is to start at 9:00am and work until 6:00pm, that is what works for me. I know what needs to be done and whether or not I can spare an extra hour break to meet a friend for coffee.
  4. Oh yes, coffee. My ever-so-appreciated espresso machine, I love you dearly. Between beans and milk, it costs about $10 a week for my daily triple shot latte, and no paper cups to throw away.
  5. Another note on saving money: I was never very good at making lunches when I worked in an office, but now I eat lunch out only once a week, saving a tonne and eating healthier at home.
  6. I control the music! Writing code and singing along to Scissor Sisters just doesn’t work for me. I can turn it off when writing code and turn it on when designing, and only listen to the music I like.
  7. It is a work in progress, but getting to choose all my own equipment/decor is pretty nice too. http://freelanceswitch.com/freelancing-essentials/5-ideas-for-choosing-your-home-office-equipment-setup/
