Recently I have made the switch to freelancer. It is hard to know what to charge, and then when you figure out a rate and your friends ask, they don’t understand why it’s so high when they only make XX/hour. With companies like this selling everything directly from their own sites it is very difficult to not buy one of everything. For now I will satisfy myself with a travel mug… and perhaps a water jug.
Bodum started in the 40′s with coffee as the core of their products. Now their collection includes a variety of kitchen ware and has been so very well designed.
Compared to print — which is at least 1800 years old — web design is new. If you learned about design in school, you probably didn’t learn very much about web design. If you have been designing solely for print for the past x number of years, there are most likely assumptions being made or questions needing answers.
